The Boston Bruins have released a statement announcing the passing of Alex Gimenez, who had just joined the team this summer as director of Hockey Operations, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
“The Boston Bruins are deeply saddened to share the passing of our colleague Alex Gimenez. Alex joined our team in July as Director of Hockey Operations, Collective Bargaining Agreement. Although Alex’s time with the Bruins was far too brief, his intelligence, thoughtfulness and character were evident from the moment he joined us. Alex earned the respect of all who knew and worked with him throughout his career and, most importantly, he was a wonderful person who will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with Alex’s family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Gimenez had worked for the Boston Red Sox as part of a decade in baseball, then as manager Hockey Analytics & Strategic Projects for the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) and was noted by General Manager Don Sweeney as a bright addition to Bruins management in the wake of offseason changes announced on July 14 that included the departure of assistant general managers Evan Gold and Jamie Langenbrunner to pursue other NHL opportunities.
